With the support and guidance of partners, the Mastercard Foundation EleV program has aimed to create transformation and change in Canada’s education and employment systems.
Our approach is rooted in respect and reciprocity. With a $518 million CAD investment, EleV is working alongside community partners to uplift and empower 100,000 Indigenous young people in reaching their aspirations and contribute to their communities.
We are supporting EleV partners, whether Indigenous-led or deeply engaged with Indigenous communities, who help create environments that are culturally safe and that honour and centre Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Together, entrepreneurial and post-secondary partners work collaboratively to open new pathways for youth to pursue meaningful careers, access innovative education, and drive transformational change both locally and nationally.
This collaborative approach drives impact on both individual and systemic levels by creating immediate opportunities for Indigenous young people today while transforming the structures of tomorrow. By building relationships with local Indigenous communities, we continually learn and adapt to meet their needs—drawing on insights from Indigenous youth about living Mino Bimaadiziwin, or “a good life”—a principle that remains at the heart of EleV’s impact strategy.
